02. OBJECTIVE

Since Udaress is still in its MVP stage, the existing website was a simple landing page featuring a demo video and a "Book a Demo" button. While it served its initial purpose, it became clear that a full redesign was needed to showcase the tool’s reliability, better engage users, and drive more conversions.

03. EMPATHIZE

Conducting a thorough stakeholder interview is essential to fully understand the product, define the brief, and clarify the project scope.

After a thorough interview with the stakeholder, the key takeaways were:

Unparalleled Reliability: Udaress stands out because its AI uses publisher data, ensuring that teachers don’t need to double-check content, and students receive accurate insights.

Efficiency & Impact: The tool is designed to save educators valuable time while enhancing teaching outcomes.

Conducting user interviews is also non-negotiable in UX research. To gain valuable insights, we interviewed five individuals—some current users and others potential users.

Key takeaways from the user interviews:

  • Many were eager to adopt the tool but emphasized the need for clear guidance, as they had never used AI for teaching before.

  • The tool’s ability to save time and personalize learning were the most appealing features to users.

From these insights, we knew the redesign needed to focus on:

  • Highlighting the tool’s reliability and key benefits upfront.

  • Showcasing how much time it saves educators.

  • Driving more sign-ups by emphasizing the free trial as an incentive.

  • Helping users feel confident using the product, even if they’re new to AI.

We analyzed competitors to understand how they positioned themselves online. While their strategies weren’t directly applicable, we identified a key gap: Udaress’s unique blend of reliable AI and personalized learning pathways for students.

This insight became our north star for the redesign.

03. DEFINE

We drafted the problem statement as such:

We drafted the problem statement as such:

“Teachers who want to provide quality education to their students need a reliable, easy-to-use tool that helps them manage their time efficiently, because they struggle to find ways to give each student the attention they need.”

To achieve this, we focused on brainstorming the insights gathered from educators about their needs and expectations for a tool like this, while keeping the stakeholders' goals for the redesign in mind.

This is where the user persona came to life. Enter Anne, a school teacher who’s constantly juggling lesson planning, grading, and trying to give each student the attention they need. She’s searching for a tool that simplifies her workload while keeping her students engaged.

04. IDEATE

We compiled all the existing content Udaress already had and identified additional elements that could reinforce reliability and trust. Drawing inspiration from the various pages featured on competitors' websites, we considered what could be implemented on Udaress’s site. With this in mind, we developed a sitemap for the website.

To refine the structure further, we conducted a closed card sorting exercise on Useberry with 10 participants to determine the most intuitive placement for key elements.

We also created a moodboard, selecting colors and visuals that conveyed reliability and efficiency, while incorporating pops of yellow to add a gamified, approachable feel—especially important since the tool is primarily used in schools.

05. PROTOTYPE

We began by putting everything together, starting with hand sketches to define the main sections of the website. From there, we moved to low-fidelity prototypes. We knew the website had to feature a video demo to showcase how the product works, testimonials from current users to highlight reliability, awards to establish credibility, and a "How It Works" section to break down the process into digestible chunks.

Every new tool seems overwhelming unless it's broken down into smaller, understandable segments.

The website structure that we opted for included:

  • Hero section with the value proposition

  • Try for FREE (CTA)

  • Partners

  • Explanation of benefits for Students, Teachers, and Administrators

  • "How It Works" in 3 steps + "Watch Demo" CTA

  • Key features

  • Testimonials

  • Awards

06. TEST

We tested the low-fidelity prototype, including these sections, and received valuable feedback.

  • "But how is Udaress different from ChatGPT?"

  • "How can I as a teacher trust that my students are doing the assignment themselves and not have need to reread everything to make sure?"

We immediately recognized the need to dedicate a section for these concerns. To address them, we included blog posts explaining:

  • How Udaress differs from ChatGPT, emphasizing that the AI is powered by reliable school publisher books.

  • A "Safe and Secure" post highlighting how the tool flags harmful content for teachers, detects cheating behavior, and ensures that data is never shared or sold.

To further showcase the tool’s reliability and credibility, I came up with the idea of including floating live stats in the hero section to instantly convey Udaress’ value. These stats highlight:

  • Hours saved per teacher.

  • Total questions answered on Udaress (verified with the founder for accuracy).

  • Improved student outcomes from using Udaress.

We also added the partner logos to the website. Since Udaress is an award-winning startup with many reputable partners, showcasing these logos helps build trust and credibility.

And finally, the prototype came together. When presenting it to the stakeholders, they were delighted. I’m happy to announce that the redesign has been successfully implemented on their website, udaress.com. Check it out, and I’d love to hear your feedback!
